The North East Post Adoption Service was created in 1998 by two childcare workers with a keen interest in the field of post adoption support. Working in their spare time they researched and consulted providers of post adoption support in other regions. This lead them to set up a telephone help line in August 1998. Only two days after opening people began to contact them.

In March 1999 NEPAS was awarded Charitable Status and was added to the Charity Register.

It became apparent during the first part of 1999 that there was substantial demand NEPAS services and that in order to meet this demand Trustees and Volunteers formulated long term plans for the future development of the organisation. From it's embryonic stages in 1998 having work with hundreds of families over the years we now offer to the adoption community world wide our new on-line services.
