What information will an adopted person receive when they approach Social Services for their birth records?

When an adopted person wanting information about their adoption approaches Social Services there are two types of information they can receive. Firstly, they can be given forms to apply for a copy of their original birth certificate and secondly information on their adoption file can be shared with them. The information on file can be comprehensive and detailed but this is not always the case and disappointingly some adoption files may have very little detailed information.
